Intro to Agility Fun II
6 one-hour class sessions Prerequisite: Family Dog Manners I or equivalent skills Go to list of all courses to learn more about prerequisite class(es)
The second level of our Introduction to Agility is still about FUN and building a Team. Here, you progress on all the obstacles, A-Frame, teeter, table, dog walk, and you will begin weaves training. You learn more about guiding your dog through sequences of equipment, building confidence and more distance from your dog. Your skills as a handler will improve and when they do, your dog notices! They will stay more focused. Talk about Positive Reinforcement for the handler!! Your dog will progress to taller equipment and you will practice “handler moves” that communicate directions to your teammate as you work through more complex courses.
And guess what? The fun of sharing training time on the “doggy playground” of agility still happens even if your “run” is actually a slow jog! You don’t have to be an athlete to enjoy this game. Your dog just wants to play with you! Come join the FUN and exercise that pup!
Special Notes: Many of the skills in this class are done off leash. Special accommodations will be made for young dogs whose growth plates may not be closed yet.
This class is best suited for: Teams absolutely new to agility, or for training a new agility dog (even if you are an advanced handler). It is also good for teams who have taken a few classes but haven't practiced in a long time. Novice 1 can be repeated as often as you like so you get good at all it offers.
