AKC Testing - Tricks Titles
15 minute evaluation session(s) PREREQUISITE CLASSES: none (although Novice Tricks and Intermediate Tricks are recommended) your dog will simply need the skills set forth by the AKC Tricks tests. Go to list of all courses to learn more about prerequisite class(es)
Does your dog know some amazing tricks? Want to earn some recognition for all of the training you have done and how much your dog has learned? Then consider earning AKC Trick Dog titles. There are several levels of Trick Dog titles available - from Novice to Elite Performer. Special Notes: Once you pass your Tricks test(s), you can send in the paperwork provided by your evaluator to the AKC for your official title(s). AKC charges a separate fee, which isn’t included in the testing fee.
Best suited for: Dogs who are registered with AKC - your dog doesn’t need to be purebred - can have a regular registration, purebred alternative listing registration, or canine partners registration number.
Min/Max Enrollment: 1 team/1 title attempt per 15 minute session
Bring the Following to the Testing Session:
- Flat buckle collar or harness (head halters, pinch collars, and electronic collars are not allowed during testing)
- 4-6 foot leash
- any props you’ll need to demonstrate your tricks (an agility tunnel, table, and jump will be provided by TCCA)
- For the Novice Tricks testing, handlers may use a food/toy lure if needed, may use food/clicker reinforcers
- In Intermediate Tricks testing, handlers may use food rewards or clickers (but not lures)
- Dog’s AKC registration information (Registration Number, Purebred Alternative Listing Number, or Canine Partners Number)
